The story and atmosphere of the fragrance

Eau d'Hermès is the very first fragrance created by the House of Hermès. Conceived in 1951 by perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, it evokes the idea of "the inside of a Hermès bag where the aroma of a perfume floats". The bottle, inspired by the lanterns of vintage cars, is topped by a black cap evocative of a cavalryman's bomb. To signify its membership of the Parfums Fondateurs collection, the label on the back of the bottle is illustrated with a drawing by Philippe Dumas.

Here is the olfactory description of Eau d'Hermès

Top notes: This fragrance opens with notes of lemon and bergamot, which provide a lively, citrusy freshness at the start. These initial notes are both sparkling and elegant.

Heart notes: The heart of the fragrance reveals a blend of floral aromas, mainly centered around rose. Rose is enhanced by notes of ylang-ylang, jasmine and neroli, lending a floral sweetness to the composition.

Base notes: The base of the fragrance is composed of precious woods such as cedar and vetiver. These woody notes bring depth and structure to the fragrance, while musk notes add a touch of softness and sensuality.

 Subtlety of the fragrance

Eau d'Hermès is renowned for its elegant simplicity and timeless quality. It's a unisex fragrance that can be worn by anyone who appreciates the understated sophistication of classic perfumes. It evokes a sense of cleanliness and refinement, making it a versatile choice for all occasions.
